He [Sri Swami Vivekananda in the beginning of his book, Raja Yoga, which is a commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali] says that all the temples, dogmas, worship services, and different yogas are aids, walking sticks, crutches. If you are limping, take any aid that helps. But remember that it’s just a crutch. When you can really walk, throw the crutch away. It’s a sort of insanity even to carry crutches when you walk well, which is why at a certain level you don’t have to go to the temple or church. You don’t have to do any worship You don’t have to stand on your head or practice any yoga. You don’t need anything.
